Ísafjörður & hvalir

July 15

Sunset 00:14 am Sunrise 03:03

This morning we visited the town of Ísafjörður or "ice fjord". Ísafjörður is a major access point to Hornstrandir nature reserve, and uninhabited, restricted-access wilderness area in the extreme northwest. After a short ride from town, we hiked in an impressive fjord and up to see a gorgeous waterfall. Walking in the fjord's valley was increasingly peaceful and even meditative.

In the afternoon, we sailed into the waters north of Iceland as we headed towards Akureyri.

Suddenly, we heard the announcement that a whale was sighted. I ran up and out to the bow. There was a group of humpback whales.

Unforgettable!

This experience has to be overcoming at some point, Nature in its purest form - the closest point that we as humans can get to what we call Heaven.🙌🏻

And then I see you mentioned “meditative” …of course! Continue to enjoy!🙏🏻💕
